Digett Announces Nature Tourism Seminar

December 14, 2006

Nature tourism leaders from across the state will converge on the Texas Hill Country town of Boerne on March 2, 2007 to sharpen their expertise related to web-based marketing techniques. Organized by the the Texas Cooperative Extension (TCE) in partnership with Digett, the seminar, entitled "Promoting Nature Tourism at Light Speed", features programs by web and tourism industry professionals and a workshop on nature event management led by the TCE.

Miles Phillips, State Nature and Ecotourism Specialist for TCE, describes the seminar as a rare opportunity for tourism professionals to quickly come up to speed on the newest and most effective techniques for promoting nature tourism.

"The web has changed a lot about the way we reach tourists," says Phillips. "We have put together an overview of some of the most leading-edge internet practices. Attendees will go home with knowledge they'll want to use to immediately improve their return on their marketing investments."

Attendees will also be treated to a tour and moderated case study of the seminar's venue — and one of the Hill Country's most popular nature tourism attractions — the Cibolo Nature Center. Featuring four distinct ecosystems, the center was established in 1990, and serves as an icon for Hill Country conservation efforts. Brand new conference facilities were completed last year, and are situated amidst a beautiful natural woodland setting.

Following lunch will be a moderated session on the specifics of running a nature festival or special event. New training modules are being developed as part of the Texas Event Leadership Program (TELP) for nature/wildlife events and this will be your chance to learn and share critical ideas.

The cost for the seminar is just $35, and registration is available online at www.digett.com/nature-seminar-07. Early registrants will receive a free copy of "Everyone's Nature - Accessible Outdoor Facilities and Programs Using Universal Design", which retails for $19.95.
