@Benjamin Doherty I wrote my previous post before reading yours. Very insightful!

Not being a coder (at all) I have a limited knowledge or (completely) ignorant knowledge of the backend workings and forget that it's sometimes extremely difficult to accomplish certain things because of the limitations of the API, code language or database engine.

Your post made me realize that the backend of Taxonomy has a heck-of-a-lot more going on behind the scenes when compared to a node and explains why it's the "red-headed stepchild"...

Hat's off. I'll do my best to quit complaining :-)
